Yesterday we walked up South Fork Trail, intending to walk to the second creek crossing to see if we could spot a Trogon. We got to the first crossing and the creek was running pretty swiftly and we had to decide whether to get our feet wet or wait for another day so the water level could go down. As we stood there, a couple of Coues White Tail bucks came playfully down the creek, splashing in the water. We watched them and they didn't seem to notice us at first, though the front deer seemed to be on the alert. As soon as that front deer saw Bud move, they took off running back upstream.
We decided to not get wet and will go back next week.
