Last year, 2013 we bought a rustic, primitive cabin on National Forest land in South Fork Cave Creek. It is one of only two cabins in this important birding canyon and we felt like we hit the jackpot when we were able to buy it.
We spent as much time as we could at the cabin and each time we had to return to Tucson, we dreaded going back to civilization. The traffic, noise and congestion wore on both of us. Our home in the Tucson Mountains is great and we love our 5 acres there, but every time we'd go over the hill into Tucson, our blood pressure would rise and the aggravation made us both long for the quiet serenity of Cave Creek.
So our new permanent home beginning in July 2014 will be in Portal Arizona. It's a lovely small community with so much going on, I can't see us ever being bored! There are miles of hiking trails & the best birding in the country! There is an abundance of wildlife that the humans who live here manage to co-exist with. We appreciate all the neighbors we have here, whether two legged, four legged, winged or furred.
Follow our new life here in Portal. It's going to be fun!
