Four String Fretted Fundango

The Banjo Blasters hosted the Four String Fretted Fundango on Saturday March 28th in Tucson and it was well attended for the Ukulele workshops and Play-alongs, but we were disappointed that we didn't attract many folks from the Tucson community for the concerts.  That being the case,  the First Annual Four String Fretted Fundango is also the "Last" Four String Fretted Fundango. :)  Thanks to Rob Wright, Ron Hinkle, Michael Crownhart and Fran Winckel for leading the workshops and play-alongs.  We couldn't have done it without you.

Thanksgiving in Tucson

We'll be spending Thanksgiving with Melody, Matt and the boys in Tucson.  We returned last week to join the Banjo Blasters at a gig at St. Luke's Assisted Living.  That's always a fun group to play for.
On Wednesday I went to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum to say hi to my former Raptor Free Flight team and watch the demos.  Got some great pictures of the handlers and the birds.   Sure did make me miss that, but I am grateful that I have that experience to look back on.  It was one of the highlights of my life.
We'll be returning to Portal on Friday for a week, but will be back in the big city again the first weekend in December for another banjo gig and to sell at the First Sunday Antique Fair.

We missed the earthquake

We returned to Tucson Saturday afternoon, June 28th so we missed the earthquake that rattled southeast Arizona that night.   Heard from our friend Helen Snyder that it was quite a rumble and rocks were heard falling in Cave Creek Canyon by folks in the campgrounds.  Hopefully our house isn't cracked by the shock.  We'll see when we go back to Portal after the 4th.

So, in Tucson we have creepie crawlies too!  Found this centipede floating in the dogs water dish this morning and assumed it was dead, since it was limp and not moving.  I put it in a plastic box for my collection of dead critters, and this evening when I was going to put it in my collection, I saw that it was wriggling around in the box!  Resurrected, I had no choice but to take it outside and let it go.  It was happy to craw under a big flower pot off the patio.  Go in peace, but please stay out of the house!

We still have our home in Tucson, so this page will cover our escapades when in the big city.
